Paul was born in North Devon, raised in Stockport, and then spent too much time in London and not enough where he wanted to be.nd

​

After gaining a degree in drama at Manchester University he worked as an actor in theatre and television for ten years.

​

Then, in 1981 following a training course at the BBC, he began a successful career as a freelance television director (winning two Baftas and many other awards) directing productions as diverse as the original and highly successful "House of Cards";  the one-off film "A Rather English Marriage" with Albert Finney, Tom Courtenay and Joanna Lumley;  the resurrected  "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" in which the Middlesborough Transporter Bridge was shipped off and rebuilt on a Native American Reservation in

Arizona;  and, in 2014, a rather

star-studded series of the

children's classic "Just William".

During that time he returned to live in

North Devon and now takes enormous

pleasure in finding fascinating, quirky and

often beautiful images in the

countryside that surrounds him

......and occasionally in London too.
